Sports PT named one of the "Best Companies to Work for in New York for 2010" by Journal Publications
Sports PT of NY is proud to announce its rank as number 15 on this year’s list among the small/medium companies. Lynn Steenberg, President of Sports PT, explains, “The primary goal of our participation in the Best Companies initiative was to gather valuable feedback from our employees in order to improve our organization.” Steenberg goes on to say, “I am thrilled that the survey results confirmed the commitment to our mission and core values. We look forward to putting this feedback to work!”
Moira Grimes, Director of Human Resources, says, “While our ranking is a true testament to the outstanding benefits and opportunities we offer, we are most proud of our more than 200 employees who truly make us one of the best companies in New York State.”
Companies from across the state entered the two-part process striving to be among the Best Companies to Work for in New York. In order to participate, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements: have at least 15 employees in the State of New York; be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity; be a publicly or privately held business; have a facility in the state of New York; and be in business for a minimum of one year.
The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group evaluated the data collected from the participating companies and used their expertise to determine the final rankings.
Best Companies to Work for in New York is a program of the New York State Society for Human Resource Management (NYS-SHRM). It is sponsored by Right Management, The Society for Human Resource Management and Jackson Lewis, LLP. The Business Council of New York is a program partner; and Best Companies Group is the survey manager.
The complete list of 40 winners and information about each is available online at www.BestCompaniesNY.com. Information about participating in the program is available on the website or by contacting Lorri Zelman, Best Companies Initiative Chair for NYS-SHRM at 212-403-6170.
Sports PT offices have raised more than $25,000 for the Haiti Relief Fund.
Sports PT was proud to present a check for $25,000 to the American Red Cross for relief efforts in Haiti. All offices were encouraged to be creative and find ways to raise money. Sports PT President and CEO, Lynn Steenberg, offered a company match if a certain dollar threshold was reached. As expected, our facilities and staff rose to the challenge. From bake sales to “challenge your PT events” to networking on Facebook, we surpassed our goal in no time.
We were also honored to help out with the Cuse Cares Telethon. Our employees teamed up with former Syracuse University athletes, including Derrick Coleman, Billy Owens, John Wallace, Pearl Washington and others, by working the phone bank. Together, the event raised $42,000 for earthquake victims in Haiti.
In honor of October being National Physical Therapy Month, Sports PT facilities across the state engaged in various outreach activities to promote the value and profession to their patients and communities. Our Grand Central staff stood out among the rest, promoting their way to a spot on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” The staff enjoyed an exciting moment, live on national television, sharing what makes PT an outstanding profession and service.
