Did you know you can be evaluated and treated by a Physical Therapist without a referral/prescription from a doctor?
Many physical therapy patients are taking advantage of Direct Access. This is an efficient option for patients to recieve immediate care for their orthopedic injuries or ailments without having to go to their doctor first to obtain a referral/prescription. Our physical therapists partner with their patients' doctors. After being evaluated the therapist will communicate with the patient's doctor as necessary.
Many insurance plans pay for services under Direct Access. Our Insurance Specialists will verify coverage before the patient's first appointment. If your insurance plan does not pay for services under Direct Access you have two choices:
1. You can get a referral/prescription from your doctor and we can facilitate that for you.
2. You can pay out of pocket for your treatment.
Direct Access continues to grow beyond New York State, with 30 states allowing physical therapists to evaluate and treat patients without a physician referral, and an additional 14 states allow physical therapists to evaluate, but not treat, patients without referral.
